Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 147

This is it, the last show of the year.  Next time I tag an mp3 file I will have to type 2013.  That’s going to take some time to get used to.  In the meantime, why don’t you listen to Ethan, Shannon and myself talk about the games we played this week as well as our top games of the year.  No Tony or Micah on this episode, so if that’s a deal breaker, you might not want to listen.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 145

Soda, bananas, sauce, bikes; we cover all the hot topics in this week’s Okie cast.  Tony makes the time to fulfill his hosting duties which means I can get back to derailing the show whenever I feel like it.  Goodbye, responsibility! Micah makea time to sit is as well but, sadly, no Shannon.  So now the ones that were dead rise, while the living fall into the abyss.  I’m not sure what I’m saying right there.  All you need to know is that we have the most un-news news segment ever.  Y’all will probably want to check it out.

episode-145
Starring – Tony, Micah, Shelby

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 144

Sometimes the podcast world can be a cold and lonely place.  At least it can feel like it when only half of the podcast crew shows up.  That’s the case this week as both Tony and Micah are MIA.  What kind of show can Shannon and I make without the restraints and burdens that typically hold us back?  I could tell you but you will have to hear it for yourself to truly believe it.  We talk some more about yo-yos and Persona 4 Golden; as well as some other unbelievable things.

episode-144
Starring – Shannon, Shelby
Run time – 1:33:34

Nintendo Okie Podcast – Episode 143

The time is here.  Last week delayed us from talking about the Wii U but now we also have the Vita to talk about.  Hunker down for this one because we run almost two hours.  Y’all know I don’t like running that long but we had a lot to cover. Plus, with December upon us, who knows how the next few podcasts are going to roll out.  Enjoy it while you can, folks.  The internet could explode tomorrow.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 142

We spent a lot of money this week, folks.  And we ate a lot of food.  You can imagine how ashamed we are of both.  However, we bring our shame to the front for everyone to see.  Join us as we demonstrate, to the world, how pathetic we are.  Oh yeah, and this recording was plagued with internet problems.  We end up cutting it short but I think y’all will still get your fix.

episode-142

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 141

As of now, the Wii U is free to roam the plains.  However, it was still moments behinds bars when we recorded this podcast.  We were all anxious to get in line for our systems so this show is a little under the 1.5 hour mark.  While next week you can expect plenty of Wii U talk, this week it’s all Halo 4 and whatever Tony and Micah played.  I don’t even remember.  The longer I sit here and type this, the less my Wii U gets played.  So…

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 139

The party doesn’t stop when you got a bowl full of candy, a pile of Japanese games and a room full of friends!  This week we have a special treat, folks.  Shannon stopped by Tulsa on his way to Missouri and we took the advantage to play some games, have a good time and record a show.  It’s another two hour show but how often are we all in the same room?  We talk about a lot of games that either aren’t out in this country or games that probably shouldn’t have made it to this country; Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA, Taiko Drum Master, Beatmania and Tetris Battle Gaiden.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 138

The time is now!  As promised, I am squeezing this in just before the clock changes to midnight.  Here is your podcast, folks.  It may be late but we did our best to give you a podcast for the ages.  For starters, Tony’s internet was down so he isn’t even on the show.  What does that mean?  It means, I, Shelby Coulter, am the host and editor of this show.  Total control!  My word is absolute!  I command this podcast to be and so it is.  Now if you will excuse me, I have to go buy a bigger hat to fit my inflated head.

For all of you unable to watch our Extra Life live stream, you are in luck.  We were able to sneak in a few recording sessions while we were playing games.  If you are worried about audio quality, you have slightly less to worry about.  Since we were in my house I was able to use my normal podcast setup.  So things sound better than these kind of shows normally do but some people still talk off mic.  Extra Life was a blast and we raised some money for a great cause.  If while listening to this show you feel compelled to donate, maybe go to our donations page and do so.

Just a quick warning, folks.  This podcast may make you want to buy stuff.  Also, this is a long show.  That’s okay since we won’t have a proper show next week.  So think of this as a two for one deal.  As I said, we talk about how a lot on money was spent this week.  A LOT.  Then we hit a little news and some listener feedback.  Please don’t forget about Extra Life coming up this Saturday.  Make sure to join us for our live stream and please donate if you are able.

We have a special addendum to the Okie Cast to help y’all make it through the week.  Tony and I have a chat with Jordan Fisher and TJ Lutz from Pwnee Studios.  We talk about their upcoming Wii U/Steam/”Other Platforms?” game, Cloudberry Kingdom.  We also find ourselves talking about Back To The Future, crustaceans, giant robots and, of course, food.

You better listen to this podcast for two reasons.  First, the Pwnee guys are hosting a contest where you could win $1000!  All you have to do is be the first to beat their upcoming game on the hardest setting.  Secondly, we are hosting a contest where you can win a beta code for Cloudberry Kingdom.  To win our contest, send an email to podcast@nintendo-okie.com and tell us the last two games Jordan and TJ have played.  To get that answer you either have to stalk them or listen to this interview.  I’ll let you decide which.  We have several codes to give away and everybody that answers correctly will be entered for a chance to win.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 126

We got a long show for you today, folks.  This week, Tony, Micah and I are joined by Mr. Bad Game Beat Bown himself, Greg Little.  We talk about games of course, but at some point we go off on a tangent about junk food; Pop-Tarts, Cheetos, Doritos and a lot of other wonderful stuff.  I could talk about this podcast’s relevant information for a video game site, but y’all can figure that part out for yourselves.

If you feel you must voice your opinion about Pop-Tarts, send an email to podcast@nintendo-okie.com.  You can talk about Cheetos on our Facebook group.  Feel free to tweet us about Doritos right after you join our forum discussion about tacos.  Next week we are planning a ten minute video about donuts.  You should get ready for that.  Junk food trivia (maybe).

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 125

We couldn’t get the whole crew to sit down at the same time this week, so what you have here is two different podcasts glued together.  First off, Tony and Shannon do the standard WIYW and news segments and then Micah and I give an on the scenes report of Tokyo In Tulsa.  Normally I would write about what’s on the show but I have only heard bits of Tony and Shannon’s segments.  I could tell you about Micah and I, but that doesn’t seem fair.  I guess you’ll just have to listen for yourself.

Episode 125
Hosts: Tony, Shelby, Shannon, Micah
Run Time: 1:40:41

Send your questions and feedback to podcast@nintendo-okie.com.  You can keep up with us by following us on Twitter or joining our Facebook group.  We have our awesome YouTube channel and a pretty friendly forum.  We also do a trivia podcast.  It’s pretty cool.

NIntendo Okie Podcast - Episode 124

Why do we spend so much time talking about yo-yos on this episode?  How come nobody has ever made a yo-yo video game?  Who knows.  Anyway, this week on the podcast we have the full crew, plus one as Will makes an appearance.  We cover games, yo-yos and news.  Not necessarily in that order.  Somehow we talk about that Doug cartoon too.  I’m not even sure how that happened.

Episode 124
Hosts: Tony, Shelby, Micah, Shannon, Will
Run Time: 1:52:17

Let your voice be heard, faithful listener.  Send an email to podcast@nintendo-okie.com and we will read it on the show.  Don’t forget to find us on all your favorite social networking sites.  Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.  If none of that is enough, you can talk on our forums and listen to our trivia podcast.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 121

Last week’s was a short show.  While I felt the quality (or lack thereof) made up for the quantity, some may have felt cheated.  If such is the case then this week will be your absolution as we have a whopping two and a half hour show.  The normal podcast crew is joined by Jools Watsham from Renegade Kid.  Things you can expect from this episode; video games, OVGE aftermath, too much fooding, Japanese reasons for divorce, subliminal messaging and a stuff that came out of the last Nintendo Direct thingy.

Run Time: 2:35:14

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 120

E3 is over.  Thank goodness.  It seems like the show couldn’t have come at a worse time for any of us here at Nintendo Okie.  You may have noticed Tony was the only one posting things last week.  Poor guy had to do it all by himself.  But we all found the time to get caught up (or mostly caught up anyway) so we could record this E4 podcast.  Yeah that’s right E4!  Not only do we have the normal crew but we manage to get Gaz on the show as well as, friend of the show, Steve Conger from thegamesmen.com.  It’s a good show, folks.  Enjoy.

Episode 120
Hosts: Tony, Shelby, Micah, Shannon, Gaz, Steve
Run Time: 1:49:49

Be sure to head over to thegamesmen.com for more E3 podcasting goodness from Steve (@jsslifelike).  You should also be listening to The Question Block.  Good show that.  As I say every week, send your emails to podcast@nintendo-okie.com and we will read them on the air.  You can follow us on Twitter, join our Facebook group, subscribe to our YouTube channel and join our forum.  Now that E3 is over, let’s all take a nap.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 119

We’ve had some short shows over the last few weeks, so we make it up a little this week.  Tony, Shannon and I are joined by an old star of the podcast and the master Go Rounder, Will.  Not only that but Jesse Hardesty, the creator of the Oklahoma Video Game Exhibition, stops by to talk games and about the upcoming show.  We also talk a little E3 and the games we have been playing this week.  You can also look forward to a lot of P popping because I didn’t put my homemade pop screens on the mics.  Oops.

Episode 119

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 118

Just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse from last week’s Amazon Japan debacle, Micah says the words “Animal Crossing toys.”  I think we need to shut off our internet.  It’s the only way we can be safe from all the amazing things Japan has to offer.  Anyway, during the podcast we talk about some games; like Medieval Moves for example.  We also hit what news we could scrape together for the week including the lastest from 38 Studios and an unhealthy amount of rumors and patents.  Great job, Jeremy!

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 117

This podcast is almost not about video games.  It starts off with a huge tangent about Amazon.co.jp and it ends with the Statue of Liberty fighting a Gundam.    I think Tony has some news at some point but we are weeks away from E3, so there is no news.  Can’t E3 get here sooner?

Episode 117
Hosts: Tony, Shelby, Micah, Shannon
Run Time: 1:20:46

It’s late so here is a link dump.  The Question Block, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, forum.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 116

We got the full crew back this week as Shannon has returned from his fight against the evil, virus king.  Another slow news week but we manage to fill out the show with a little more WIYW talk than normal.  As for the news itself, we hit a collection of smaller stories with some longer quotes… if you’re into that sort of thing.  Also, I explode into a GameStop rant towards the end of the show.  E3 is one week closer.  I’m so not ready for it.

Episode 116
Hosts: Tony, Shelby, Micah, Shannon
Run Time: 1:28:48

Smurf Talk - Episode 1

This was too good to not see the light of day. Back on Episode 91 of the Nintendo Okie Podcast Shelby and I got side tracked and spent a good amount of time talking about the Smurfs. Shelby was amazed that I actually knew a lot about the Smurfs, but it’s a bunch of silly fun. This was originally hidden in the post of Episode 91, but you had to do a little bit of digging to find it. I thought this was too good to not hear so I’m posting it here for everyone’s enjoyment.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 115

What happens when we don’t play any games and there is no news?  We make a short show.  We barely manage to fill an hour this week due to the E3 drought and life keeping us from playing games.   During the news we talk about how games don’t make any money unless it’s called Call Of Duty.  Also, Micah almost ODs on food, Tony threatens to hurt his cats and I complain about bugs in my house.  Oh gad, is E3 here yet?

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 113

Puns, puns, puns.  This show is full of all kinds of quality jokes.  Not only that, but we talk about video games too.  With Micah out to some sort of real-life activity, we call in Mr. Steve Conger from thegamesmen.com to help us out.  After this show is over you can expect to be smarter about Xenoblade Chronicles, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Zen Pinball 3D.  And as always, you will get the latest in our obsession with the Uprising AR cards.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 112

This week’s show is top notch, folks.  Dare I say it’s the greatest podcast of all time?  I dare.  We talk a little more Uprising as well as a few news games for the crew; Skylanders, Radiant Historia, Metal Torrent and Skullgirls.  As you may expect, we continue to talk about AR cards ruining our lives as well as Capcpom’s lack of spelling.  Tony helps me with my confusion about Project Rainfall and Micah I go from talking about Brawl to having an actual brawl.  Then out of nowhere, Tony has a totally none PG breakdown when he reads a quote wrong.  Stay tuned after the ending song for that clip.

Episode 112
Hosts: Tony, Shelby, Micah, Shannon
Run Time: 1:41:53

We want your emails, everybody.  Send them to podcast@nintendo-okie.com and we will read them on the show.  You can follow our Twitter, join our Facebook group, subscribe to our YouTube channel and talk on our forums.  I say this every week but I don’t think anybody every reads this part.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 111

The show is going to sound a little different this week.  We recorded on location at Micah’s house so we didn’t use my computer and I guess a new version of Audacity was released at some point.  Anyway, I did the best I could but I had some problems leveling everybody before we started recording.  Plus everybody was using different mics… ugh whatever.  I’m probably the only one that cares.  Well, we talk about Xenoblade Chronicles this week as well has a lot of news; ranging from Electronic Arts as the worst company ever to Sega people moving to Nintendo.  Also, towards the end of the show we give away a code for Super Mario Land 2.  Enjoy.

Episode 111
Hosts: Tony, Shelby, Micah
Run Time: 1:58:27

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 110

Once again we talk about Kid Icarus: Uprising since that seems to be the only thing we have played.  If that isn’t your thing you don’t need to worry.  I tell a tale of my late-night adventure to Walmart.  Sounds exciting doesn’t it?  If that doesn’t make you want to listen then get this.  Halfway through the news the show crashes due to multiple programs failing at the same time.  Things never quite recover as the show is anarchy from there.  Now do you want to listen?  Thought so.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 109

The day has finally arrived.  A day I have waited 20 years for; a new Kid Icarus game are been released!  Hopefully you want to hear about it because we talk about it for pretty much the whole What’s In You Wii segment.  You can also expect some talk of AR cards, some Wii U coverage, the final judgment of GAME, Ubisoft’s horrid DRM and a little dash of Persona.  It’s a full show.   “Sorry to keep you waiting!”

Episode 109

Interview: Red Lynx (MotoHeroz/Trials Evolution)

We have a great interview right here, folks.  This time Tony and I have a chat with RedLynx community manager, Daniel Nixon.  We had an absolute blast recording this one so I’m sure y’all will enjoy listening to it.  We ask Daniel about the development and community for MotoHeroz, what we can expect from the upcoming Trials Evolution and its achievements and we also ask about RedLynx’s future with the Wii U and 3DS.  Then at some point, Daniel and I turn on Tony and put him in his place.  Serves him right.  That Tony guy acts like he can do whatever he wants just because he hosts the show.

If you want to become a part of the RedLynx community, you can follow them on Twitter (@RedLynxGamer) or join their Facebook group right here.  You can keep an eye on all RedLynx has to announce by reading their blog (written by Daniel himself) and don’t forget to head over to their forums and discuss all the ways you think Altaïr could ride a motorcycle.  Thanks again to Daniel for taking the time to talk with us.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 108

This is the post for the podcast below.  I guess I am supposed to tell you about the show so you’ll want to listen to it.  Does that seem strange to anyone else?  Spoiler warning for the podcast I guess.  This week Micah returns to talk about Street Fighter X Tekken.  Meanwhile, Tony reveals his diabolical plan to make Micah spend all his money.  While all this is happening, I am taking apart the video card from my computer.  Kind of a weird show now that I think about it.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 107

Since everybody else has a life, we got an old-school, two-man show for y’all this week.  With more time to waste, Tony and I take the advantage and talk about Full House way more than should be allowed on a video game podcast.  Worry not, faithful listener, for we still find time to talk about topics relevant to video games such as being yelled at by John McEnroe, the Mario Party numbering system, crying cats, the CCG business and some horrible, Pokémon puns.  Will the fun ever stop?

Episode 107
Hosts: Tony, Shelby
Run Time: 1:28:16

If you want to add your Pokémon pun to the pile, send an email to podcast@nintendo-okie.com.  If your pun is under 140 characters, you could tweet it to us on Twitter.  If you want all your friends to know it, you can send it to us on Facebook.  If you want to up your production value, you could make a YouTube video and reply to one of our videos.  Of you could share it on our forum.  Which will you choose?  Get it?

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 106

Questions are asked on this episode of the Okie Cast.  What are the top five games Wii players want?  Who is still making SNES games?  Why haven’t Micah and I moved to Japan yet?  Will the Wii U controller be sentient?  Is Michael Pachter mad the Wii HD never happened?  These are the tough issues we talk through in episode 106.  We also talk about a few games; Zuma’s Revenge, Dillon’s Rolling Western, Zombie Parkour Runner and Namco Museum Virtual Arcade.

Episode 106
Hosts: Tony, Shelby, Micah, Shannon

This week on the Okie Cast a giant chicken sneaks into the recording.  Don’t ask me how it happened.  Even though I was there I don’t really understand it.  Not only do we have oversized chickens but also some talk of Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning, Rhythm Heaven Fever and Newton Vs. The Horde as well as a stack of iOS software.  During the news we talk about turtles, space and DLC.  What a combo!

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 99

It’s been a slow news week but we manage to fill the podcast fine. Exploding refrigerators, exploding comments, exploding Kirbys; this show has it all. We actually go over time as we devote the end of the podcast to that whole SOPA thing. You can also look forward to Micah’s tale of the Zelda orchestra, Tony’s adventure through demo land, Mac’s exploding fridge (I already said that) and I try to describe Kirby Mass Attack. And to think, this isn’t even show 100 yet.

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 98

So I guess the NFL playoffs are going on or something because there is a lot of football talk on this podcast.  Thankfully most of it is related to NFL Blitz.  This week Tony, Micah and I are joined by friend of the site Steve Conger from thegamesmen.com.  Other than Blitz we talk a little Saints Row: The Third, a little Dead Island and a little Zen Pinball.  When we get into news we discuss how one Chinese man hates his money, how Activision is paranoid about the internet and if Capcom has forgot Mega Man exists.

Episode 98
Hosts: Tony, Shelby, Micah, Steve
Run Time: 1:37:01

Nintendo Okie Podcast - Episode 97

Better late than never right?  We didn’t want to go two weeks without a podcast but with all the New Year stuff going on, we had a hard time getting a show together.  I had a hard time editing it too.  Mostly due to Saints Row: The Third.  Anyway, two days late, here is episode 97 of the Okie Cast.  We recorded in two chunks; one with Tony and myself then one with Tony and Micah.  We don’t talk about any news, instead just games we have been playing and we review our 2011 year in review articles that went up all last week.  Happy new year, everybody.  Let’s hope the world doesn’t come to an end.

Episode 97
Hosts: Tony, Shelby, Micah
Run Time: 2:15:35
